Oh Really?

Catscape reveals that Mae Magouirk may not actually have been in any danger. (He has the roundup.)

This won't stop me from fighting against the growth of the kill-the-inconvenient movement in this country, but I wonder if Ken Mullinax has ever heard the tale of the boy who cried wolf?

I can honestly say that in this case, I have erred, but it was in the interest of life. The facts, as they were presented, made it seem that an elderly woman's advance directives were being ignored because a granddaughter decided that her myriad health conditions were too much and "who would want to live like that". Let me suggest that it may be errant for people to say that it's best to let someone 'go be with Jesus' when the human under discussion isn't terminal.

The Gods call us all home when it's time, and when that moment comes, no amount of supportive equipment is going to keep a human functioning in the flesh.

Yours was an unintended mistake made out of caring about someone... it's far better than the opposite.

Agree - much better to err on the side of supporting life.

“The Mae Magouirk” Story now seems to be evolving into "The Ken Mullinax Story". Looks like he was dissatisfied with his aunt's situation, and wanted to get her moved to an actual hospital - and decided to drag WorldNetDaily, Glenn Beck, and the blogosphere into his little family squabble.

Here is the email that I sent to Sarah Foster this morning:

I took that line from a blog this morning. http://www.catscape.com/ If it turns out that this whole story was bogus I would like to know. Would you please do a follow up and have it printed. I hate to be played for a fool; I do it well enough on my own.

Here is what she responded with:
I have all the papers from the court, including the judge's order and Beth Gaddy's petition. This is no hoax. Ken Mullinax's mother (Lonnie Ruth Mullinax) is Ora Mae's sister -- she, too, is now in hospital, (at UAB) with a dissected aorta, brought on because of the stress. (that's all in the posted articles).

The petition protesting Beth Gaddy's guardianship was filed by Lonnie Ruth and Ora Mae's brother A.B. McLeod -- not Ken. Ken very definitely not the only one involved.

Sarah .
