Another mass grave was found in Iraq, with bones of toddlers still clutching toys, the bones of unborn babies, and the bones of women clutching infants who had been shot in the back of the head.
Try telling me Saddam Hussein isn't evil. Try telling me that we weren't justified in ending the rule of that fucking psychopath. Try telling me that it's "all" about the oil.
Just try.

Did I leave anything out?

Posted by: Ethne at October 13, 2004 08:45 PMAh, but we haven't gone zooming off to places like Sudan so we can't claim any humanitarian benefits to deposing Saddam. /moonbat
(Overheard a coworker proclaim that yesterday. Actually, couldn't help but hear it since she decided to have a "discussion" with another coworker right next to my desk while I was speaking with a customer. BlahblahblahoiliniraqbutnotinSudanblahblahblah. Except, IIRC, there is oil in Sudan.)
Ethne: You forgot how our forces are hopelessly overextended and getting overrun, but we should go invade Iran and North Korea sometime next week. Plus other demonstrations of military ingenuity by the left not seen since the days of Sun Tzu.
Posted by: Patrick Chester at October 14, 2004 02:43 PMOh, yes... my mistake, I forgot about the atrocities in Sudan. I wonder what the moonbat front would say if the US did decide to "unilaterally" try to fix the problem. (Because goodness knows, the benevolent UN is making such progress... about the same amount of progress as they did against Iraq...) And what of Rwanda?
And I am always astounded on how wise and knowledgeable these arm-chair generals are considering they don’t actually have any type of military service under their belts, nor would they considering their “pacifistic” (and I use that term with as much sarcasm as possible) natures.
Actually, military service isn't completely necessary. Some knowledge of military history is. Talking to someone who has been in the military is also helpful.
The basic knowledge is there, and if these people can't (or won't) look for it then they shouldn't be surprised if they're seen as complete bozos.
(Though a part of me suspects some of them know what they are saying is bogus, but are hoping to sway the ignorant over to their side.)
I'd recommend various strategy games, paper or computer, but I find that my own experience with them can lead to some unrealistic, if easily-discarded, ideas. Especially Sci-Fi strategy games. I mean, I know I can't drop a bunch of Assault 'Mechs from orbit into Sudan or other troublespots, but I'd like to. ;)
Oh, and many strategy games don't bother too much with logistics, mostly because that's boring. (...and it is, even if it's very important in planning a campaign. Eyes-glazed-over boring, even.)
Are you a StarCraft fan?
Posted by: Ethne at October 17, 2004 09:03 PMSadly, no. I don't get into the real-time strategy games. Prefer turn-based.
Posted by: Patrick Chester at October 18, 2004 04:55 AMAnd dont forget that the AZTECS the INCAS and other of these primatives were pagans who commited act of human sacrifices to the bloodthirsty deities they worshipped i mean it gets realy bad and when it comes to the aztecs why would there be cases in which the people of various tribes join forces with the spaniards to attack them and why do these radical enviromentalists want to emulate them?
